Job Description
The Agricultural Equipment Operator will operate and maintain agricultural equipment and vehicles used in connection with agricultural operations. Duties: Operate agricultural equipment including but not limited to tractors, buses, pickup trucks, and ATVs in support of agricultural operations. Transport farm workers to and from employer-provided housing and worksites on a daily basis. Transport workers to grocery stores, laundromats, and other essential services at least once per week or more frequently if necessary. Maintain accurate daily production records for the crew assigned to the driver and report production totals to the supervisor as required. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operating condition. Inspections include checking fluid levels, brakes, tires, steering components, mirrors, emergency equipment, and safety lights. Report mechanical issues immediately to management. May perform minor maintenance and basic servicing on buses, tractors, pickup trucks, ATVs, and other farm equipment. Must comply with all DOT regulations and safety requirements when operating commercial motor vehicles. Worker must obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate prior to operating applicable vehicles. The medical examination will be scheduled and paid for by the employer. Worker may be required to become certified in First Aid and CPR; certification will be provided at no cost to the worker. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform assigned duties will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker. Worker must listen, understand, and follow directions given by the supervisor. Cell phone use is prohibited while operating vehicles or equipment and is only permitted during designated breaks or in case of emergency. Requirements: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Must possess a valid Farm Labor Contractor (FLC) license if required by applicable state or federal law. Must have at least one (1) month of verifiable experience performing agricultural equipment operation and/or transporting agricultural workers. Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Work requires prolonged standing and sitting. Work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to heat, humidity, dust, and other weather conditions. Must be able to work long hours as required by crop and operational demands.For each workday, the worker will be paid the higher of: The total hours worked multiplied by $14.00 per hour, or The daily rate of $150.00. Under no circumstances will the worker earn less than the highest applicable required wage rate in effect at the time work is performed, including the Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR), prevailing wage rate, agreed-upon collective bargaining rate (if applicable), or the Federal or State minimum wage, whichever is highest, for all hours worked. If the worker’s total hours worked in a workday, when multiplied by the required hourly wage rate in effect, exceed $150.00, the worker will be paid the higher calculated hourly amount. If the required hourly wage rate increases during the contract period, the employer will adjust the worker’s pay accordingly to ensure compliance. The employer will comply with the three-fourths (3/4) guarantee in accordance with 20 CFR 655.122 and will maintain accurate records of hours worked and wages paid.
